Nursing is a great profession. Its a career that helps you save lives, bring happiness to individuals and their families and comfort to those in need. It is the responsibility of each person involved in nursing field to maintain its integrity and chastity throughout this work. But a group of individuals see this as the only way to make money, undermining the integrity and purity of the job. A great example of this is the PBBSC/ MSC nursing courses offered today at some of the nursing institutes in the state of Karnataka providing the opportunity to learn by working. This poses a challenge to the dignity of the nursing profession. This is illegal and a criminal offense. Moreover, it is a violation of
human rights to obtain a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in nursing in this way.
During the two year study period, these courses are arranged as 1650 hours practical for PBBSC Nursing course and 2250 hours practical for MSC nursing. The Rajiv Gandhi Health University of Health Science in Karnataka has issued various circulars warning that the fake nursing study, which is being conducted with the tacit consent of the students, is illegal. According to statistics, over one lakh nurses from various nursing institutes in Karnataka completed PBBSC/MSC nursing courses illegally and are working in India and abroad under the guise of qualified nurses. One can easily understand that Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science is controlled by a big Mafia with the participation of various nursing institutes in the state of Karnataka. A few days ago, the University posted a notice on its website stating that PBBSC/MSC nursing courses are not correspondent courses and that it is a criminal offense to do so, and if anyone is found to be studying illegally, they should immediately notify the University Vice Chancellor ,Registrar etc .But it has now disappeared from there.
Rajiv Gandhi Health University authorities have again issued a new circular. All students seeking admission in PBBSC/MSC nursing courses are requested to submit an affidavit on Rs.20/- Judicial Stamp paper. But not a single student who got admission in these courses knew about this rule. Instead, the principals and management of the nursing colleges submitted false affidavits in the name of all the students before the University. So the students, who had no chance of escaping where jumped into another crime. Who eats salts should drink water. That is the law of nature.
In addition, the Nursing Council of India and New Delhi have repeatedly stated that PBBSC/MSC
nursing courses cannot be studied as correspondents.
Prominent RTI activist Mr. M.K Thomas has filed a public interest litigation before the honbl’e High Court of Karnataka seeking that the CBI should enquire into this massive scam as the authorities have refused to take action despite complaints at various levels against this injustice(WP 43236/2019).
Proceedings on this public interest petition before the honbl’e High Court of Karnataka are in progress. Mr. Thomas and his team have submitted to the Honbl’e High Court all the evidences found in their investigation. In 2015, Mr. Thomas announced the publishing a book ” A HANDBOOK ON FRAUD &FAKE NURSES FROM INDIA” containing all the evidence he had found about thousands of nurses involved in this fake nursing study. The panicked Karnataka nursing Mafia tried to assassinate Mr. Thomas , but he
survived the assassination attempt and lost his right leg above the knee. But despite his weakness,
Mr .Thomas is fighting again against this massive scam.
